Chamak by Priya Kakkar was started in April 2005 as a way to showcase my passion for jewelry. I am a New York based designer with roots in India. After graduating from New York's prestigious Fashion Institute of TechnologyI began mycareer working as senior account executive in the accessory departments of DKNY, Chanel USA and Burberry USA.
I remember as a young girl being fascinated in visiting India and spending time at the local bangle shops in the outskirts of New Delhi, trying on every bangle that was sold. It is consequently no surprise that my line of high end jewelry is strongly influenced by the rich and vibrant colors of India. By blending the lively traditional character of that land with modern sensitivity I try to fashion season after season a line of jewelry that gives the wearer something special - the Chamak personality.
